Tuomey Regional Medical Center WINS SAFETY AWARDs
COLUMBIA, SC – Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter, South Carolina was one of ten South Carolina healthcare organizations recognized as winners of a Palmetto Hospital Trust (PHT) Safety Award and/or a Most Improved PHT Safety Award at the PHT General Membership Meeting. Healthcare professionals from around the state attended the day-long event, held on June 12, 2009 in Columbia.
Most Improved Safety Awards were presented to PHT members with the largest reductions in loss ratio from 2007-2008, and Safety Awards are presented each year to Palmetto Hospital Trust members with the lowest loss ratios, in their respective categories. Tuomey Regional Medical Center was the winner of both awards in the category of hospitals with 201-500 beds.
Palmetto Hospital Trust (PHT) was founded in 1977 by South Carolina healthcare executives as a group workers’ compensation self-insurance pool. The Trust members include hospitals, continuing care retirement centers, organizations dealing with special needs individuals, and other healthcare organizations.
PHT is a leading provider of workers’ compensation coverage to the state’s healthcare industry. Workers’ compensation services are provided to PHT members under a contract with PHT Services, Ltd., and through business alliances with other best practices companies.
