Greater comfort, increased accessibility and the latest in technologic advancements are the driver’s behind Tuomey’s new Outpatient Surgery Center, which opened its doors in winter 2004. Four operating rooms, one procedure room and 20 pre- and post-operative beds offer Sumter-area residents the excellence in care they expect from Tuomey. In addition, its on-campus location makes the Outpatient Surgery Center a convenient choice in right-at-home healthcare facilities.
The operating rooms integrate surgical device technology through
voice activation and the SwitchPoint central control system, all
developed and installed by Tuomey partner Stryker,
the nation's leader in surgical technology. Additionally, the operating
rooms utilize HERMES, the world's first FDA-approved voice control
system for networking medical equipment. This system affords surgeons
direct control over surgical devices using simple verbal commands,
creating tremendous efficiencies and increased accuracy during
procedures.
Located in front of the main hospital, the Outpatient Surgery Center
is connected to the parking garage crosswalk. It is easily accessible
from its second floor to the second floor of the parking garage,
providing a covered, all-weather-ready access for patients.
