Welcome to Baby Central! Where you plan to deliver your baby is a big decision, and there are so many reasons Tuomey is a wonderful choice. From our warm surroundings, to our experienced staff, to our Level II Neonatal Intermediate Care Nursery – we have just what you need. But you can see for yourself. Spacious Lobby
From the moment you enter our spacious lobby, you'll feel the excitement of all that is to come. When you are in labor, we urge you to call our Birthing Center to let us know you are on the way; we’d love to meet you and escort you to your room. The Birthing Center is located in the main hospital building. Simply come in the main hospital entrance, take the elevator to the 2nd floor, exit to your left and follow the signs.
Pre-Register
Contrary to what you often see on television, chances are good that you will have plenty of time to get settled in your room.* We understand your excitement and want to get you comfortable as soon as possible. If you have pre-registered, which you can do anytime during your pregnancy, we will do our best to take you straight to a Labor/Deliver/Recovery (LDR) suite.
*If you believe you are in hard labor, please go straight to the Tuomey Emergency Department instead of coming to the main hospital entrance.
Command Central
Our nurses station is located in the heart of The Birthing Center. This is Command Central for what can sometimes be a very busy part of the hospital. Each of our seven LDR suites is clustered around this central point, so our staff can be close to laboring moms at all times.
Like Home
We’ve made every effort to make our LDR suites feel like home. The spacious, well-appointed rooms feature large picture windows and an extra-large private bath and shower. Each is furnished with a special birthing bed, a rocking chair, an armoire with a television and a telephone.
State-of-the-Art
Your baby’s progression will be closely monitored from the time you arrive. When your baby is ready to come, the beautiful wood cabinets at the head of the bed will open to reveal state-of-the-art birthing equipment. Everything your doctor needs is right there.
Our Team
This we know for sure: laboring moms develop important relationships with their nurses, and we’ve got the very best right here at Tuomey. Our team has tended to literally thousands of births, and they know exactly how to respond. Whether you are a mom who needs lots of reassurance or a mom who prefers a more private experience, you’ll get just what you need from our caring staff.
Well Baby Nursery
And so your baby is here. Now what? At Tuomey, you have a number of options. You may choose to rest while your newborn spends a little time in our Well Baby Nursery. This safe, loving environment is overseen by registered nurses and pediatricians who monitor your baby and provide hands-on care. Another option is to have your baby “room in” with you for the remainder of your hospital stay. Or it might be that a combination of the two is right for you. No matter which you choose, Tuomey seeks to make you and your baby as comfortable as possible throughout your stay.
Level II Nursery
Sometimes, babies are born who need a little extra help adjusting to their new surroundings. That’s why Tuomey’s Level II Neonatal Intermediate Care Nursery is here. A special consideration for those expecting twins or for babies born prematurely, our Level II Nursery is equipped to care for all but the most critically ill newborns.
Room Service
We take good care of mom, as well. As a special treat, we offer “room service” during the day and evening. Simply order from our extensive room service menu, and we’ll bring food right to your room at whatever time you specify. This can be an important comfort when you are making the first adjustments to life with a newborn.
Women's Center
As a new mom, it is incredibly important that you be able to use your time at Tuomey to rest and recover. We know you will need all the energy you can get in the days and nights to come, so we do what we can to make it easy for you while you are here. In your private room in our Women’s Center, you can sleep, watch television or simply spend precious moments with your new baby. Our lactation experts will provide the encouragement and support you need to learn to breast-feed successfully, and our childbirth educators will answer any questions you have about caring for your little one once you return home.
