Cancer is a terrifying word, but Tuomey's Jeanne C. Watson Oncology Unit is here for patients who have to face the reality of the disease. The unit is designed to put life-saving technologies to work in an environment that treats the whole patient, and it allows patients and their families to stay close to home for superior care and ongoing treatments.
Our 24-bed oncology unit features spacious and airy rooms, the
nurses' medication room - which makes dispensing chemotherapy drugs
easier and faster. A conference room located beside the unit is
available for educational opportunities offered by the oncology staff,
and our consultation room offers a quiet, private setting for patients
to discuss treatment options.
Because we understand that prevention and early detection are the
most powerful tools our community has to combat cancer, Tuomey is
actively involved in outreach programs related to the disease. Our
oncology staff regularly leads breast, prostate and skin cancer
screenings, as well as bone marrow donor drives. These professionals
also present programs to the public to raise awareness of sickle cell,
colon cancer and other oncology-related topics.
